There are two main types of braces:
................................................................................................................
1. Removable
appliances can be taken out for
sports and cleaning. They are generally used in younger
children who still have some of their baby teeth
present.
Sometimes a pair of removable braces is fitted over the top and bottom teeth at the same time so that we can correct teeth that stick out too far. These braces are called functional appliances.
2. Fixed Appliances are made up of small attachments (brackets) which are glued onto the teeth and joined together with straightening wires. The brackets are usually made of stainless steel, but you may prefer tooth-coloured aesthetic braces which are much less obvious.
We treat both children and adults. National Health treatment is only offered to patients under the age of 16 years of age with moderately severe problems.
Private treatment is also available and this allows us more time for every stage of your orthodontic care and provides you with a greater choice of appointment times and appliances. We provide treatment for adults and specialise in Invisalign nearly invisible braces.
